Family Law intake · Managed by VoxLead
Family law intake handled with care, at any hour
Family law callers are often scared, sometimes unsafe, and calling from a phone the other person may see. VoxLead answers for your firm with a calm voice, checks safety first, takes the facts your attorneys need and books the consultation.
Why family law firms lose clients to voicemail
People decide to call a family lawyer late at night, after the argument or after the papers arrive. If the call goes to voicemail they often hang up, and the next firm that answers is the one that gets the retainer.
Matters the intake covers
- Divorce
- Child custody and visitation
- Child support
- Spousal support
- Protective orders
- Paternity
- Adoption
- Modifications and enforcement
What your attorneys get from every call
Your firm approves the questions. These are where most firms start, and we change them to match how you work.
- The other party's full name, for your conflict check
- Marital status, and the number and ages of any children
- County of residence and how long they have lived there
- Any existing court case or order, and any upcoming court date
- Whether papers were served, and when
- Whether the other party has a lawyer
- Whether this number is safe to call back
What happens on a family law intake call
The same eight steps on every call, so nothing depends on who happened to pick up.
01
The call is answered
Day, night, weekend or overflow. The intake specialist says it is the firm's intake assistant and that the call may be recorded.
02
Caller details are taken
Name, the best callback number, and whether a voicemail or text to that number is safe.
03
The facts of the matter
Marital status, and the number and ages of any children; County of residence and how long they have lived there; Any existing court case or order, and any upcoming court date; Whether papers were served, and when.
04
Names for your conflict check
Other parties, co-defendants or opposing parties are recorded for your firm to check. VoxLead never says a conflict is cleared.
05
Urgency rules are checked
Your rules decide what is urgent. Anyone in danger is told to call 911 first.
06
The attorney is alerted
Urgent intakes go to your on-call attorney by text and email straight away, and can be transferred if you allow it.
07
A consultation or callback is set
Booked on your calendar during the call, and the caller gets a confirmation text.
08
The intake is delivered
An attorney-ready summary goes to your team, and to Clio or HubSpot if you use them. If any step fails, VoxLead follows up rather than reporting success.
Urgent matters, and the lines it never crosses
Sent straight to your on-call attorney
- The caller feels unsafe at home
- A protective order is needed or in place
- Children were taken
- Papers served or a court date within 72 hours
What the intake specialist never does
- Says which parent will get custody
- Suggests moving out or taking the children anywhere
- Discusses moving, hiding or spending money or property
- Leaves a message before checking the number is safe
VoxLead is not a law firm. It does not give legal advice, decide whether your firm takes a case, or create an attorney-client relationship. An attorney at your firm makes every one of those calls.
Family Law intake questions
- How does it handle callers who are not safe?
- It asks about safety first, sends anyone in danger to 911, flags protective-order calls as urgent and asks whether the number is safe before any voicemail or text is sent.
- Does it collect the other party's name?
- Yes, along with opposing counsel if there is one, so your firm can run a conflict check before the consultation.
- Can callers book their own consultation?
- Yes. It books on your calendar during the call and texts a confirmation, unless the caller says texts are not safe.
